Sudden hair loss is something that always strike terror into one’s heart. After all, hair plays an important part in defining a person’s identity. So, losing such a vital component suddenly is both alarming and scary.

The loss of hair may occur for various health problems or deficiencies. Today, it is a common problem and can be solved by some certain medications and therapies. The loss of hair mostly happens due to medical treatments, hormonal changes, poor health and even stress. As hair falls happen because of some common problems, usually it comes back after the trouble is detected and cured. However, there are also some cases where it occurs permanently and hair never reappears.

Reasons can be different behind sudden hair loss and a few of these reasons have been provided below:

- Telogen Effluvium: When somebody loses hair because of stress it is called telogen effluvium. Extreme stress such as the loss of a job, divorce or break up, death of a loved one, or sometimes other major changes in life causes hair loss. Beside stress, childbirth, quick weight loss, thyroid conditions, surgery, chemotherapy, and hormonal changes can also cause telogen effluvium.

- Thyroid conditions: Thyroids are one of the common problems of hair loss. People suffering from both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism are likely to experience hair fall.

- Androgentic Alopecia: When loss of hair occurs due to hormonal imbalances and genetic reasons it is referred to as Androgentic Alopecia. This causes patterned permanent baldness in men and hair thinning in women.

Solutions to hair problems are dependent on the reason. So, the first thing you should do as you face any kind of hair problem is to consult a doctor. Once your reason behind the sudden loss of hair is determined, fixing the problem becomes much easier.
