It’s every mans worse nightmare and it happens to over 70% of the male population – hair loss. In a lot of cases it’s nothing more than a barely noticeable receding hairline, in worse cases it results in complete balding.
Whilst male pattern baldness is recognised and accepted as hereditary, the modern age we live in means we have the necessary tools available to engineer a fight back. For example, you can now visit your local specialist clinic and have hair “implanted” into your head! If you can’t afford the quite large fees that some of these specialist clinics charge, you can opt for the more questionable topical treatments.
There is much debate surrounding topical hair loss treatments and how effective they are and so we want to make you aware of what’s good and what’s bad in the world of hair loss treatments.
Wig – you might instantly dismiss this idea as you recall some of the more shocking wigs you can remember, but you should give it some serious thought. Unlike wigs of old, they are now made to measure and wigs these days are extremely difficult to tell them from the real thing. You can have a full head of hair again in the blink of an eye without the need for any risky treatments
Vitamin E – Taking a vitamin E or zinc supplement is a healthy, effective way of slowing down hair loss. Although it is unlikely it will stop it all together, it is a widely recognised and popular way to prevent you from going bald before you’re ready.
Minoxidil – Minoxidil lotion was actually developed as a cure for high blood pressure, it is now more commonly used for the treatment of hair loss. It is the main ingredient in popular hair loss products such as Regaine and well over half of the users of such products report significant hair growth. One thing worth bearing in mind with Minoxidil is the fact that if you stop using it, you will more than likely also put a stop to any gains you will have seen.
Emu oil – Emu oil is a relatively new treatment and it involves applying the oil of an emu (derived from the fat) to your hair. The jury seems to be out on this treatment yet thousands and thousands of people report the greatest results with this treatment.
