DHT – Public Enemy #1 in the Fight Against Hair Loss

Posted By: admin3322 on October 19, 2008 in Hair Care - Hair Loss Treatments - Comments: No Comments »

What is DHT?

It is Dihydrotestosterone, the natural metabolite of the human body that induces hair loss. DHT can cause hair loss in both men and women. Both are likely to lose hair due to hormonal changes in the body. The male hormone “androgen” is primarily responsible for both hair loss and hair growth. Androgen’s metabolism makes it get involved with 5 alpha reductase (found in the hair and scalp), an enzyme which combines with the male hormone testosterone, ultimately producing DHT.

The dermal papilla is the most important building block of a hair follicle, which which causes hair growth. The dermal papilla cell divides to form brand new hair follicles. It derives nutrients for the hair follicle growth since it has direct contact with the blood capillaries. They have receptors for androgen and so the cycle continues.

To maintain the health of the hair, it is important to eat a well-balanced diet. Upon reaching the hair follicles and the dermal papilla, the DHT stops the necessary nutrients that arrive at the hair follicles, hence the follicles build up at a slower rate. DHT shrinks hair follicles and the hair starts to thin and ultimately falls out. The good thing is there is a type of product that inhibits DHT to stop thinning of the hair This is made possible by using one of the many natural DHT blockers and drugs that are used for medical hair restoration.

Provillus is an all natural supplement that has demonstrated the ability to stop thinning of the hair. It’s primary mechanism of action is to block the hormone DHT (Dihydrotestoterone) in the body. Provillus also contains other helpful ingrediets including: Saw Palmetto, vitamin B-6, biotin, and zinc. These ingredients help to stop hair loss and cause the hair to thicken.

Currently, DHT is the root cause of about 95% of hair loss. The patients who experience hair loss are generally those who are producing more DHT in their bodies. It would be highly advisable for anyone who is experiencing this condition to immediately seek the help of a medical professional in order to prevent further damage to the hair follicles.

F the product mentioned above, more products are sold by different companies. Seeking information online could also be helpful to provide you options and ideas on how to deal with this type of difficulty. However, just like many problems, prevention will be better than cure. It is therefore better to prevent hair loss while you are still young and are not yet experiencing it.

Just remember that hair loss happens to millions of people. As long as it is not happening abruptly, severely and in patches then thinning of the hair is generally a condition that can be treated with our ever expanding treatment options.

Hair Replacement – How to Maintain Hair Pieces

Posted By: admin3322 on October 5, 2008 in Hair Care - Hair Loss Treatments - Comments: No Comments »

When a hair piece is attached on your head, it does not mean that you cannot take a bath. Shampooing with it is as important as you would shampoo your natural hair. The only difference is you must do it with proper care. Otherwise, you might damage your existing hair, the adhesives under it and even the hair piece itself. Here are the guidelines on how to maintain the hair replacement system on your head.

• When taking a bath, you must first wet your hair. Then put the shampoo on your palm, not directly on your head.

• Lather the natural hair first then eventually the hairpiece. Do not rub the hairpiece. Instead just pat the shampoo into it and slowly take out the tangles.

• When rinsing, do it in a way that the water runs down in one direction. This is to avoid tangles when water is splash to different directions.

Eventually, the hair piece needs to be removed after 4-6 weeks from semi-permanent adhesives. Cleaning it may differ with various hair replacement systems according to the base material. However, generally it should be removed by the hair specialist. Then the cleaning process with the hair piece begins by soaking it in water to get the adhesive residues. After which, it should be washed with detergent soap and the hair with shampoo. Before it can be used, it should be totally dried first. This is the reason why you need to have two hairpieces so that while the other one is being cleaned, you will have something to wear
